As many of you who have existing bookings with us will know, Ballyclare Cattery & Spa has been sold and will be under new management shortly.
Ballyclare Cattery & Spa is currently a family-run business, and the decision was taken last year to sell the family property and business for personal family reasons. Our website and booking conditions were updated to reflect this in August 2014.
The sale now has a confirmed completion date; 18th February 2015. I (Jonny) will be staying for a little while to ensure a smooth transition, although the new owner Janet has spent much time with us in recent months, getting to know both the regulars and the ropes. New and existing bookings will not be affected by the sale, apart from a slight change in opening hours, which will be covered below.
We have taken immense joy in embarking on this journey; from it’s genesis and subsequent fruition into a successful business. Most importantly, BC&Spa has always been a loving ‘home from home’ part time residence for our cherished feline guests, and that is how we always intended it to be.
I’d like to indulge this juncture in the business’ history, to say a heart-felt thank you to all of our clients, who have consistently made this job even more gratifying than it already is.
I would also like to acknowledge the efforts and warm welcome that was given to me by the ladies at ‘Lost & Found Pets County Antrim’. Their support was much appreciated, and if you can support them in any way, please do so, as they do such noble work.
The good news is, that both the purchaser of our cat’otel, Janet and her new manager, Andi are two experienced crazy cat ladies! Between them they have 12 cats of their own, and have volunteered at Mid-Antrim Animal Sanctuary for a long time.
Janet has taken the time to say a few words, which you can view athttp://www.ballyclarecattery.co.uk/blog/2015/02/13/A-Few-Words-from-Janet.aspx
Just one change; our opening hours from 18th February will be 11am-1pm and 4-6pm, as opposed to 9am-12pm and 3-5pm as it is at the moment. If you’ve booked the morning check in it shall be shifted to 11am-1pm and if you’ve booked 3-5pm, it will change to 4-6pm. If this is inconvenient, don’t hesitate to let us know via email; we shall accommodate your original request. Out of hours check ins/outs that are already booked will still stand and be accommodated. Please remember that all check ins/outs must be pre-booked in advance and are subject to availability. For allocation reasons we always need to know whether you're coming in either the morning or afternoon slot, so if your check in time is still TBA, please let us know as soon as you know yourself.
The new Management will be having a fun-filled relaunch day in mid-March; look out for notification via email about this!
In the meantime, should you wish to contact me directly regarding this matter or anything else, please email me on [email protected]
A new addition to the cattery will be an on-site sanctuary for geriatric cats, which will be registered as a charity. Look out for more info on this, which is an exciting development.
Sincerely, thank you so much for your understanding and continued support; the future is bright for BC&Spa and all who stay in her!

" It gives me great pleasure to become the new owner of BC&Spa this month; it is very much a dream job come true for me! Andi and I met through our voluntary work in the cattery at Mid Antrim Animal Sanctuary and our 100% commitment to feline care and welfare has forged a strong friendship between us. So much so, that when BC&Spa came up for sale it seemed like "the natural way forward" for us. None of you need any convincing from me that what Jonny and Lesley have created here is something very unique and special in terms of cat boarding. We promise we will continue the wonderful legacy they will pass on to us on 18th February and your furbabies will be cared for and loved as if they were our own when they take their holidays with us. Through the work I have done for various animal charities and rescuers there will be an additional number of cat lovers who will be involved with BC&Spa in a number of ways, from extra hands on help with cattery duties, to assistance with a new charity on site providing a permanent retirement home for abandoned seniors. Details of this exciting new venture, called " Lilas Legacy", will soon be posted on the website and we will be creating a new Facebook page for you to follow the stories of our dear feline Golden Oldies! I would like to say a very big Thank You to Jonny and Lesley for all the help they have given me to ensure a smooth takeover with no stress involved whatsoever for those who matter most - YOUR CATS! Andi and I look forward to meeting you all and, of course, to cuddling and enjoying your lovely furbabies."
